| What happens when Van Antwerp Pottery goes bad? It becomes a mosaic. |
It all started when I got a new computer. I forgot to transfer the old mailing list from the hard drive, so all you seconds lovers who signed up to come to my sales, were lost.
As my 'not sellable' pieces started to accumulate, I resorted to smashing them to smitherines for easy disposal. But after seeing all those fun colors and shapes it gave me another idea: Mosaics.
Creating Mosaics is a great way to get back to what pottery once was for me. Art. Just plain ol creating something nice, with no rules and no limits on the imagination.

All sold pieces can be re-created, but will not be identical to those show here. Production time is 3 weeks.
Process
These mosaics are built within a 10"x10" pine frame that has been sealed for weather resistance. The process is similar to most tile creations using thinset to adhere to wood frame, grouted, then sealed for indoor or outdoor use. These pieces can be incorporated into any tile project, used as a stand alone or hung on a wall. The possibilities are as endless as your imagination.
